Portrait of a home
Over six decades ago, my grandpa built the home that he and my grandma raised six kids in. Grandma passed away nearly nine years ago, and Grandpa remained in the home until just a short time ago when he moved to a retirement center.
Before moving the furniture and Grandpa's personal items to his new place, I shot pictures throughout his house, yard and shop.
Grandpa sitting in his recliner in the living room.
My girls' shoes strewn about the entry of Grandpa's house, next to his jacket and cane.
The living room with pictures of family on the wall.
Detail of the antique organ.
His living room after he took down all the pictures in several rooms.
Bedroom closet.
Bookcase in the office.
Collection of old magazines in the basement.
Canned fruit.
Old rusty cans of evaporated milk.
Old stove in the basement.
The door to his garage/shop.
Tools and machinery in the shop.
Odds and ends in the shop.
Address on the front of the house.
Front yard.
Statues in the yard.
Copies of the book he wrote.
The back yard as seen through the kitchen window.
A collection of his old glasses on the table in his bedroom.
